UN38.3 testingrequires all the transport of lithium batteries should pass these testsincluding: Altitude simulation, Thermal test, Vibration, Shock, External shortcircuit, Crush, Overcharge, Forced discharge. If the batteries are not packedthe related devices, and each package contains more than 24 pieces of batterycells or more than 12 pieces of batteries. Being in such case, an extra testnamed 1.2 meter free-drop is required. 。

Thetotal cost of such certification is not small, and different types of batterycan not share the same test report. The examination rate varies with differenttype of batteries by different airlines. Therefore, the total cost divides intoeach products will be increased. Most importantly, batteries can be verydangerous if being packed improperly. 。
